2018 IN THE EYES OF THE JOINT TECHNICAL SECRETARIAT

The 2018 is passing away that brought happiness and visions, aspirations, ambitions and challenges. During 2018, the Joint Technical Secretariat of the Interreg V-A Lithuania-Poland Cooperation Programme monitored 66 projects:

16 of priority 1 (Preserving and protecting the environment and promoting resource efficiency);

6 of priority 2 (Promoting sustainable and quality employment and supporting labour mobility);

25 of priority 3 (Promoting social inclusion, combating poverty and any discrimination);

and 19 of priority 4 (Enhancing the institutional capacity of public authorities and stakeholders and an efficient public administration).

These projects were being implemented by 121 various institutions in the Programme area.

During 2018 the 3rd call for project applications for the Interreg V-A Lithuania-Poland Programme was performed. We received 80 applications on time: 45 applications with the Lead Beneficiaries from Lithuania (the biggest number of applications from Alytus county) and 35 applications with the Lead Beneficiaries from Poland - organisations from Podlaskie Voivodeship were the most active.

The European Cooperation day “The Linen Trail” was celebrated on 15 September in Punsk to appreciate the cross-border cooperation, and to focus on what we have in common.

The 5th Joint Monitoring Committee of the Programme took place in November 2018. The Committee approved 19 applications for co-funding. Approximately 11,6 million EUR will be allocated to these projects from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The most popular specific objective of the Programme was 4.1. "To increase cross-border cooperation of the institutions in order to develop more integrated and better quality public governance and public services in the Programme area" with 14 approved projects out of 40 project applications received.

Joint Technical Secretariate together with Regional Contact Points organised four trainings in Ełk, Augustow and Kaunas to learn more about the Programme, public procurement, construction law.

On 11 December, the European Commission adopted the Decision to increase financing of the cooperation programme "Interreg V-A Lithuania-Poland" from ERDF by 7 000 000 EUR. The current budget of the programme for 2014-2020 reaches 70 769 277 EUR.

All these good things would never have happened with our wonderful, committed Programme partners and friends. Thank you very much for being with us this year, and let’s move to the New year with new energy and commitment!
