Project summary:
The project addresses the growing need for medical rehabilitation services caused by population decline, ageing, and the increasing prevalence of musculoskeletal diseases in the Suwałki, Sejny, Kaišiadorys districts and Suwałki City. The availability and quality of outpatient rehabilitation services in the border region remain insufficient, especially for elderly people and persons with mobility difficulties who face barriers related to transport, distance, and access to specialised procedures.
The project improves access to and develops outpatient medical rehabilitation services for adults by introducing new rehabilitation procedures, including cryotherapy and hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Healthcare institutions in Poland and Lithuania are equipped with new medical equipment, facilities are renovated, and digital solutions are introduced to improve service organisation. A patient transport solution is also developed to facilitate access to rehabilitation procedures.
The project strengthens patients’ health literacy through educational activities, supports the exchange of experience among healthcare professionals, and improves their competences. The planned actions contribute to better health outcomes, reduce the risk of disability and social exclusion, and strengthen cooperation between Polish and Lithuanian healthcare institutions in addressing common challenges in the border region.
