Five Operations of Strategic Importance were presented in Druskininkai, marking a significant step forward in the development of the border regions of Lithuania and Poland. More than €30 million in European Union funding has been allocated for their implementation.
These large-scale initiatives, launched for the first time, aim to address some of the most pressing challenges, from civil security and infrastructure to adapting areas for tourism.
“National security and the well-being of our citizens begin with cooperation in border regions. At a time when security issues are especially urgent, protecting national borders becomes one of our top priorities. That’s why we are committing not only substantial financial resources but also strategic focus to this area. I am proud of the strong partnership between Lithuania and Poland—it demonstrates that by working together, we can tackle current challenges and create a safer environment. These projects are a long-term investment in our shared future and a tangible step toward strengthening not only the border region but also the cohesion of the entire European Union,” said the Minister of the Interior Vladislav Kondratovič.
We extend our sincere thanks to the representatives of the projects for their engaging presentations and for the dedication and effort they continue to invest in making these initiatives a reality.
