Lithuanian and Polish Border Guard teams have discussed joint project activities

Lithuanian and Polish officials have launched a joint Project to strengthen security at the Lithuanian-Polish border.  The first live meeting took place, where the most important activities were discussed, also strong Project implementation teams were established, comprising of strategic decision makers, experts and managers, ensuring smooth implementation of Project activities.

During the meeting:

  • Project activities plan and timeline discussed
  • Responsibilities among the institutions divided
  • Next steps and model for mutual cooperation adopted
  • Solid basis for further work established.

The Project „Joint actions of Lithuanian and Polish Border Guard Services to contribute to a safer and more secure Europe“ (“Border guards”) started on December 1, 2024.

It is implemented by the State Border Guard Service under the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania and the Podlaski Border Guard Regional Unit of Maj. Gen. Henryk Minkiewicz.

The Project is aimed at:

  • strengthening cooperation between Lithuanian and Polish border services
  • improving competences and tactics of officials
  • deploying new technologies and enhancing infrastructure at the border

📅 Project duration – 36 months

💶 Budget – EUR 5.8 million (partly financed by the European Regional Development Fund)
