On April 24, 2026, the renovated Museum of Beekeeping Culture was officially opened in Augustów. The initiative was implemented jointly by Bractwo Bartne and Dzūkija National Park and marks the culmination of the over two-year-long project “Forest Tree Beekeeping – A Tradition without Borders”.
The event programme included the official opening ceremony, guided tours of the new exhibition, and a scientific conference dedicated to research on the oldest beehive and the history of beekeeping.
The expanded museum offers a new visitor experience, featuring an exhibition on beekeeping traditions combined with the biology of bees, a unique “beehive-sarcophagus” – the oldest discovered beehive with a bee colony dating back over 1,350 years – and an interactive educational zone.
This project is another example of how cross-border cooperation supports cultural development, heritage preservation, and education.
