Projects visits MC

LTPL00354 – FORT-UNION

Polish-Lithuanian integration of the fortification network for the development of flagship tourist products
Partner 3: Public Institution Kaunas Fortress Park

The project activities are implemented at the 4th Fort of Kaunas Fortress. Visitors would have an opportunity to learn about the project, ongoing restoration activities, and the broader efforts to preserve and adapt the Kaunas Fortress heritage network.

Possible highlights:

  • Presentation of the project and planned results;
  • Viewing of ongoing restoration and conservation works at the 4th Fort;
  • Guided tour of the fort territory and underground structures;
  • Introduction to the wider activities of Kaunas Fortress Park, including the management of six forts and other fortress heritage sites in the Kaunas region.

Important: The project is still at an early implementation stage. Although restoration works are underway, there are currently very few completed project outputs to showcase. The main value of the visit would therefore be the opportunity to explore the historic fort itself, learn about its heritage significance, and see the works in progress, rather than to view completed project investments.

LTPL00078 – ChemEcoRescue

Strengthening cooperation between Lithuanian and Polish rescue services in liquidation of chemical and ecological accidents
Lead Partner: Fire and Rescue Department under the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania (Regional Headquarters of State Fire and Rescue Service in Kaunas)

The project focuses on strengthening emergency preparedness and response capacity through cross-border cooperation and the acquisition of specialised equipment.

Possible highlights:

  • Presentation of the project and cooperation activities with Polish partners;
  • Demonstration of equipment procured through the project, including a fire-fighting vehicle, minibus, and specialised chemical incident response trailer with equipment;
  • Discussion on practical applications of the equipment and its contribution to emergency response capabilities.

Unlike infrastructure-focused projects, this visit would primarily focus on project results in the form of operational equipment, capacity building, and institutional cooperation.

LTPL00384 – LIMMA

Lithuania Minor – Masuria. Local heritage – trans-regional cooperation
Partner 2: Open-Air Museum of Lithuania

Located approximately 30 minutes from Kaunas, the Open-Air Museum of Lithuania is one of the country’s most significant heritage attractions and offers a unique insight into traditional architecture and rural life.

Possible highlights:

  • Presentation of the project and planned activities;
  • Viewing of the model of the future Tilžė (Tilsit) house;
  • Project materials and documentation from heritage expeditions in Lithuania Minor;
  • Opportunity to visit and explore the museum itself.

Important: The project is still in the early stages of implementation, and there will be very limited project outputs available to view. Construction of the planned barn will not yet have started, while the historic boats scheduled for restoration are expected to be located off-site in restoration workshops. Therefore, visitors should not expect to see substantial project investments or completed results. The main attraction of this visit would be the museum and its cultural heritage collection rather than the project’s tangible outputs.
