Project summary:
The Lab of Senses project unites the theatres of Alytus (Lithuania) and Białystok (Poland) in a cross-border cultural initiative under the Interreg programme. Aimed at fostering cultural enrichment, social inclusion, and creativity, the project focuses on the youngest audiences and their families through interactive theatre experiences. Inspired by the idea of encouraging literacy through live performances for babies, it promotes storytelling as a universal way to connect people across borders. Two main activities – Baby Theatre and Baby Camp – will serve as platforms for art therapy, cultural exchange, and community building, allowing participants from both regions to explore diversity, share stories, and learn from each other. The project also includes promotional actions such as articles, radio and online features, and posters to engage wider audiences. Contributing to the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region (PA Culture, HA Capacity, and HA Neighbours), the project strengthens cultural identity, supports creative cooperation, and promotes good cross-border relations. Around 120 participants will take part in activities that enhance cultural understanding, inclusion, and collaboration, with a special focus on infants, children with disabilities, and young families. By combining the expertise and creativity of both theatres, the project demonstrates how culture and theatre can serve as powerful tools for social cohesion, shared learning, and mutual inspiration between communities in Alytus and Białystok.
