Project summary:
ARTCONNECT aims to revive the traditional crafts of woodcarving and folk art in the Lithuania–Poland border region, addressing the challenges of globalization and cultural change while preserving the shared heritage of both nations. The project’s main goal is to create a sustainable cross-border network of artists that fosters cultural exchange, mutual enrichment, and the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage. By restoring sculptures, organizing plein airs, educational events, and interactive exhibitions, ARTCONNECT supports local communities, artists, and visitors, strengthening cultural cooperation and promoting regional identity. A key focus is engaging young people through innovative learning methods to ensure the continuity of traditional crafts for future generations. The project also features a virtual exhibition to showcase the region’s cultural richness internationally. Emphasizing cross-border collaboration, ARTCONNECT deepens shared cultural understanding, stimulates cultural tourism, and builds lasting connections between artists and communities. Its unique focus on woodcarving and folk art—combined with modern approaches and creative exchange—makes it a distinctive and impactful initiative that enhances both cultural and economic vitality in the border region.
