Project summary:
The project aims to improve the accessibility, quality and efficiency of healthcare services in the Lithuanian–Polish border region by strengthening cooperation between healthcare institutions in Šilalė (Lithuania) and Sejny (Poland). It addresses common challenges of peripheral border areas, including limited access to specialised medical services, insufficient healthcare infrastructure and the need to strengthen the capacities and competencies of medical staff.
A key element of the project is the modernisation of healthcare facilities through the purchase of specialised medical equipment enabling improved diagnostics and same-day healthcare services. The project also supports the development of staff competencies through practical training, study visits and exchange of experience between Lithuanian and Polish healthcare professionals.
By enhancing healthcare infrastructure and building long-term institutional cooperation, the project contributes to more accessible, resilient and patient-oriented healthcare systems in the border area. It improves the quality of medical services for residents of Šilalė District and Sejny County and strengthens cross-border cooperation in the field of healthcare.
