Project summary:
The project fosters cross-border cooperation between Druskininkai (Lithuania) and Giżycko (Poland) Municipalities, aiming to strengthen decision-making for sustainable urban development and the well-being of local communities. Both municipalities share similar demographic, economic, and tourism profiles, making joint learning and experience sharing particularly relevant.
Key activities include two people-to-people meetings and two webinars for municipal council members and administrative staff, featuring workshops, trainings, and consultations with local stakeholders such as NGOs and community groups. The project will also define directions for future collaboration, formalized through a Letter of Intent.
By exchanging knowledge and best practices, particularly in sustainable tourism and water tourism management, the project enhances the capacity of local authorities, promotes environmentally responsible policies, and strengthens public participation. Long-term, the initiative will establish lasting cross-border partnerships, facilitate regional sustainability, and provide solutions that can be replicated in other municipalities across the border region.
