Date:
From: 2024.02.01 Till: 2026.01.31
Project summary:
Recent WHO estimates show that more than 1 billion people worldwide need rehabilitation services, and the LT–PL border region faces the same growing demand among both adults and children. Yet rehabilitation services remain insufficient in quality, accessibility and alignment with modern needs. Although Abromiškės Rehabilitation Hospital (LP) and the Independent Public Health Care Institution in Łapy (PP2) have long-standing experience, both lack the infrastructure, innovative equipment and specialised competences required to provide effective, up-to-date rehabilitation. The project aims to strengthen cross-border cooperation to improve the accessibility and quality of rehabilitation services in Lithuania and Poland. Joint training, exchange of experience, upgraded infrastructure and equipment, and the creation of a long-term cooperation network will increase the partners’ capacity and support a measurable rise in the number of patients served annually (adults and children) to 6,566. The project introduces innovation in three ways: it combines physical rehabilitation with emotional health support through psychotherapy; it applies modern technologies and methods for both children and adults; and it integrates infrastructure and expertise between the partnering institutions. Together, these measures will deliver more effective rehabilitation services and a lasting positive impact on the cross-border health system.
