Project summary:
Marcinkonys Multifunctional Centre (Lithuania) and Dom Litewski Sejny (Poland) are implementing a project to empower local communities and strengthen cross-border ties. The initiative enables residents to design and implement solutions that improve wellbeing, social integration, and cultural cooperation.
Activities include:
Educational programs for all ages
Skills Development Academy for cross-border residents
Cultural events, including 3 Courtyard Festivals
Target groups: local residents of Marcinkonys and Sejny, the Lithuanian community in Sejny, and children and youth from local schools.
The project addresses challenges like social isolation, limited access to leisure and learning, and brain drain, while fostering dialogue across cultural, social, and age groups.
Expected outcomes:
A citizen-designed educational activities package in Marcinkonys and Sejny
3 public events and 4 Skills Academy training sessions
Stronger cross-border community connections
Why it’s unique: local residents propose solutions, creating a safe, open, and culturally rich space that encourages participation and intercultural cooperation.
