Project summary:
The project aims to transform the Polish–Lithuanian border region into a more attractive cultural tourism destination by bringing the shared heritage of Druskininkai and Olecko to life through innovative and interactive experiences. By strengthening cross-border cooperation, the partners will create new opportunities for residents and visitors to discover local history, traditions, and folk art in engaging ways.
The project combines investments in cultural infrastructure with joint activities such as expert exchanges, workshops, and artistic collaborations. New interactive attractions—the Living Museum of Folk Art in Olecko and the Living Museum of History in Druskininkai—will encourage visitors to actively experience the region’s heritage rather than simply observe it, making cultural tourism more engaging and accessible.
As a result, the project increases the attractiveness of both municipalities, attracts more visitors, and supports the development of local tourism and creative industries. It also strengthens long-term cooperation between cultural institutions in Poland and Lithuania, helping to preserve and promote the shared cultural identity of the border region for future generations.
