Project summary:
The project aims to preserve and promote the cultural and literary heritage of Czesław Miłosz as an important element of shared Polish-Lithuanian identity, while strengthening cross-border cooperation between Lithuania and Poland. This legacy, deeply rooted in the history and culture of both nations, continues to inspire ideas of unity and mutual understanding in the region.
Over time, Miłosz’s heritage has been explored through various initiatives in Kaunas, Kėdainiai, and Punsk, yet it still requires further coordinated efforts to fully present its multidimensional character. The main cultural institutions and partners in both countries are joining forces to safeguard, interpret, and develop this shared heritage as a living source of cultural dialogue.
With the support of collaborative cultural programming, the project expands exhibitions, develops educational and artistic activities, and strengthens engagement among local communities, cultural institutions, and visitors. It also organizes workshops, performances, and interactive events to increase awareness of Miłosz’s legacy and its relevance today.
By developing a cross-border cultural route, improving accessibility of heritage content, and showcasing the unique shared history of the region, the project is expected to increase visibility of Polish-Lithuanian cultural connections. It also fosters community engagement, strengthens institutional cooperation, and creates new opportunities for sustainable cultural and socio-economic development.
