Project summary:
Project “Strengthening the response systems to disasters in forest and peat ecosystems in the border area” brings Polish and Lithuanian fire departments together to improve preparedness and response to fires and other emergencies affecting forest and peat ecosystems.
Partners are strengthening their operational capacity through joint training, firefighting events and the purchase of specialised equipment. Firefighters are developing practical skills in peat fire suppression, while young volunteers have the opportunity to learn about firefighting and nature protection through joint activities.
Project also supports the development of common guidelines and management practices for forest and peat fires, helping both countries to improve prevention, preparedness and coordinated response.
Through continued cross-border cooperation and the exchange of experience, the project contributes to safer communities and better protection of valuable natural ecosystems in the border area.
