Project summary:
The project aims to strengthen culture and sustainable tourism as drivers of economic development, social inclusion, and innovation in the Poland–Lithuania border region, which features resorts, spas, recreational facilities, and rich cultural and culinary heritage but suffers from limited visibility, low inter-institutional cooperation, and underdeveloped tourism management. Building on the concept of workation—combining remote work with tourism—the project seeks to reduce seasonality, attract new visitors, and extend stays, benefiting local businesses, boosting employment, and stimulating the local economy. Activities include developing infrastructure such as coworking spaces and high-speed internet, organizing workshops, lectures, and guided tours, and promoting cultural, social, and educational experiences that highlight the region’s landscapes, traditions, and attractions. Cross-border and interregional cooperation allows participants to access a variety of locations, share best practices, and create joint marketing initiatives, enhancing tourism services and fostering business partnerships. By connecting tourism with remote work, the project encourages talent retention, community engagement, and long-term sustainable development while promoting mutual understanding and collaboration between Poland and Lithuania.
